Esmeralda is one of the main stars of Disney’s 1996 film, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and a secondary character of its sequel. She is streetwise and brave, a gypsy with a heart of gold. She is one of the first and few people in both films to befriend the deformed but lovable hunchback Quasimodo. Esmeralda’s greatest wish is to see outcasts like Quasimodo and her fellow gypsies be accepted into society and be treated as people. She is a wonderful heroine who is not only beautiful, but is also fearless, kind, and passionate.
