An antique is usually defined as an item that is at least 100 years old. The value of an antique is based on its age, condition, rarity, and beauty. Old items that are less than 100 years old are referred to as “vintage” or “collectible”. The term vintage has traditionally been used in reference to wine, connoting age, excellence, and enduring appeal. The term is now widely used to describe items from the past that are considered desirable or valuable. Collectibles can be old or new and are items that are thought to be of interest to collect as a hobby or an investment and that may increase in value in the future. The “vintage” and “collectible” items of today will become the antiques of the future.
